Danny silently prided himself for remembering to knock. He had been told multiple times that knocking was of no need during emergencies, and while Danny would go as far as saying this was an emergency, it was definitely not a matter of life or death. So, he felt like knocking was the least he could do. This, however, did not stop him from stumbling through the window the second it was opened and promptly collapsing on the wooden floor. A set of steady arms helped him lean against the wall. He closed his eyes and tried to remember how to breathe.

She was quiet, never voiced her thoughts unless asked to, never complained about the life she was supposed to live. She was a Pearl, she wasn't allowed to make her own decisions. And that was okay, because from the very first moment of her existence, she had known her purpose was to serve those who had created her.
Others like her envied her, who had been chosen to serve one of the Diamonds herself and she was proud of it. She carried this honour on her shoulders, no matter how heavy it became, no matter how worthless it seemed, she knew it wasn't. It couldn't be, after all this was her destiny, her purpose. She was a Pearl!

Battle Scars We Hide
It was a warm and sunny day
A young boy played outside
Whenever someone passed his house
He laughed and tried to hide
Many people big and strong
Walked by, their heads held high
But one girl caught the boy's attention
Inside he saw her cry
The boy quickly ran up to her
And took her hand in his
"Congratulations," said the boy
"For winning your war, Miss."
The girl did not know what he meant
And asked him to explain
"My dad told me about your kind,
The ones who hide their pain.
"He said that people who have scars
On their wrists, like you do,
Have won a long war with themselves,
So congratulations to you."
And so, the young boy saved a lif
On these lonely grounds,
Where future seems asleep
Home feels like a prison here
No hope is left to keep
People get no chance for change
Drowning in despair
Poverty inherited
This life is hardly fair
Dreams are buried and forgotten
No one tries to flee
Bravery has lost it's meaning
Tears make it hard to see
The mass is tired, hopeless, blind,
When someone takes a step
Ignoring those who dream to big,
And try to close the gap
Candles don't grow while they're burning
New ones must be lit
Together this can be accomplished,
When everyone feels like they fit
Yesterday, I saw the sun
I saw it before the day began
It was until very late afternoon,
I realized the sun was also the moon
It was shining when everything was dark
In the black it was a little spark
The dark, the light,
The day, the night,
It didn't matter, I didn't care
All that mattered was that it was there
My sun, my light,
During day, during night,
Shining so bright,
Putting up a fight,
Against all fear
It was never so clear
I always loved gazing stars on the sky
You were always standing close by
Now I see, I don't need to look up to see a star,
Because you, my sun, are never far
Yesterday, I saw the sun
I saw it before the day beg
